Missouri VINE and Grundy Custody
Missouri's custody-notification program goes by MOVANS. Search a single name through the VINELink Missouri search, then register with the current MOVANS portal for local-jail alerts by text or email. The service reports one person's status. It is not a Grundy County arrest roster. There is no booking-photo gallery either. A blank result can mean many things: a spelling variation, a reporting delay, a release, a transfer to another holding county, or a facility that is simply offline. Grundy County makes no county-specific participation promise. Public reports from 2026 also disagree about whether Grundy or Caldwell County holds local inmates, so confirm the location directly.
Run a Grundy County VINE Check
Start with exact identity details from the arresting agency. Never pick a match just because the surname and county feel familiar.
- Open VINELink and select Missouri.
- Search by full name and careful spelling, or use the offender ID when available.
- Review possible matches and compare the age or date of birth without republishing sensitive identity data.
- Open the likely record and inspect status, location, reporting agency, and custody reason.
- If the location is not Grundy, ask the sheriff whether a transfer or outside-county hold explains it.
- If no match appears, call the sheriff and retry with the exact booking name or ID.
The Grundy County arrest record guide covers the booking report and the later court record; VINELink replaces neither. The official Missouri search screen lists jurisdiction and identity controls.
The capture explains the interface and does not present a group of arrested people.
What VINE Shows After Arrest
Missouri's public guide lists the result fields. Availability varies, and a photograph appears only when the reporting source supplies one.
| Result field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Name | The identity spelling supplied to the custody system. |
| Date of birth or age | A match aid for separating people with similar names. |
| Custody status | The state reported by the connected agency at its last update. |
| Location | The reported holding site, which should be confirmed if transfers are possible. |
| Reporting agency | The agency feeding the custody record. |
| Reason | The stated custody or hold reason, not a final disposition. |
| Photo, when provided | An optional source image, not a guaranteed Grundy County field. |
VINE status covers custody only. It skips the full arrest narrative and the filed charge. A released person may not show as held, even though the arrest report and docket remain.
Register for Grundy Custody Alerts
Missouri switched the local-jail channel in May 2026. All local-jail users now register at MOVANS. Choose SMS text or email there; older instructions built around calls and the VINELink app no longer control a new registration.
- Confirm the correct person and reported facility.
- Open the current Missouri MOVANS portal and choose its local-jail registration route.
- Select SMS text, email, or both when those current choices are offered.
- Supply the requested contact details and create the four-digit PIN when prompted.
- Keep the PIN private because state guidance uses it to access or change notifications.
- Review confirmation and update the contact details if they change.
The current MOVANS portal controls local-jail registration.
The screen points users to the current state route for alert choices.
VINE Limits for Grundy Arrests
MOVANS is not a federal locator. Bureau of Prisons, ICE, and US Marshals custody all fall outside its reach. Missouri DOC uses a separate Victim Services notification route. A Grundy County arrest can slide into one of those systems, and the first local result will not explain that step. Fresh bookings can lag. Check the sheriff's phone too. Confirm newer arrests through the Arrested Today process, and if Trenton Police made the arrest, dial 660-359-2121, keeping in mind the sheriff or another county may run the holding site.
After a Grundy Custody Alert
An alert is a prompt to verify. Release can follow bond, sentence completion, court action, or another lawful change. A transfer means custody continues at another site. Check the named location and reporting agency. Then contact the proper office. Missouri DPS answers MOVANS questions at 573-526-1929 and movans@dps.mo.gov. The Grundy County Sheriff's Office holds the county custody record. Dial 911 for an emergency. No app or email replaces a dispatcher.
Note: Save the alert time and source because later updates may change the reported facility, status, or notification event.
A custody alert also stays silent on the court side. It will not show whether the prosecutor filed the same charge. Nor does it reveal how the case was resolved.
Missouri's 2026 MOVANS Change
A May 6, 2026 DPS notice sets the current rule for Grundy County users. Phone and VINELink-app alerts no longer cover local-jail or detention-center offenders. Text and email through the new MOVANS portal are the stated choices. It still is not a Grundy roster. DOC custody keeps its own path. Old brochures yield to the current DPS notice. The four-digit PIN guidance still helps manage a registration. The older repeated-call process holds no promise for a local-jail alert.
Custody States in Grundy County
Several records can describe one person at different moments. A just-arrested person may still be moving through booking. Someone held locally can show a VINE status, while a person released on bond is out of jail even though the case continues. A transfer changes the physical location without erasing the original Grundy County booking. A prison sentence moves the person into the DOC system, off the county roster.
Ask a precise question when you call. Was the person arrested, booked, released, transferred, or moved into DOC custody? Also ask which agency reported it. The holding site matters too, especially in Grundy County, where public sources disagree about local versus Caldwell County custody.
VINE covers custody and notifications. The arresting agency owns the arrest report, and the custodian holds booking and release entries. Missouri Case.net carries later court events. None of them alone tells the whole story.
Match the Correct Arrest Record
A name alone is a risky way to find the right Grundy County arrest record. Spelling slips happen. So do aliases and shared names. Before you register for an alert, confirm the age or date of birth, the offender ID, the reporting agency, and the reported location. Two plausible results? Call the agency rather than guessing identity from a charge, a hometown, or a photo.
Identifiers do not always line up. A local jail's booking number may differ from a DOC offender ID or a court case number, so keep each number tied to its source. Giving staff the right ID helps DPS or the sheriff trace a missing result, though it cannot change the custody status itself. Treat no photograph as the sole identity test. Missouri's guidance notes a photo may appear when provided, yet Grundy County publishes no photo-results policy, and images can be old, absent, or tied to a different stage of custody. Match several fields and confirm through the agency directly.
When a VINE Alert Fails
A silent VINE alert has a few usual suspects. Start by confirming your registration went through the current MOVANS portal. Check the text number or email for typos. Look at spam and blocked-message settings too. Then search again under the same name, reporting agency, and facility. A transfer can create a new record under a different jurisdiction. Still nothing? Contact MOVANS help and the Grundy County Sheriff's Office. Include the offender ID, the last confirmed location, and the time of the last alert. Silence alone tells you nothing about whether the person is held or released.
Alerts are helpful, but they can lag the actual event. When safety is at stake, rely on official help and emergency channels. Don't wait on a device. For everyday verification, keep the message and compare its timestamp against the agency's record.
